Inner City Blues is the first play we produced. This is a full length play we produced in August of 2012 at the Encore Theatre in Houton, Tx.

Inner City Blues is a gritty stage play that explores life in urban America, centering on themes of violence, survival, and resilience. Through raw dialogue and interconnected stories, the play examines how systemic hardship and personal choices collide, shaping lives and relationships within the community.

Diary of a Bastard Child

Trapped is a one act play about the effects of drug abuse in the black community told through the eyes of children.

Trapped

Diary of a Bastard Child was originally produced in 2013 at the Encore Theatre. Since then, it has been performed in 2015 for MLK Day and recently produced as a digital stage play in March 2024, where it was entered into Powerstories “Voices of Women” Festival. It won first place overall in the digital category and also won the critical social issue award.

Diary of a Bastard Child tells the story of a teenage girl navigating sexual assault, poverty, and an unplanned pregnancy. After her death, her child struggles with grief, identity, and the consequences of loss, making the play a poignant exploration of trauma, resilience, and the long-lasting effects of hardship on families.

Porch Conversation

Porch Conversation is a one act play that deals with the criminalization of homelessness.

Originally performed at Ella Baker Center’s Night Out For Safety and Liberation event in Houston, Tx hosted by Grassroots Leadership . It was eventually turned into a short film and later performed at Theatre Suburbia’s Back Porch performance art series in 2023.

Porch Conversation (Xmas version)

Porch Conversation (Xmas version) is the extended version of Porch Conversation with a Christmas twist! It was performed at the Shrine of the Black Madonna December, 2023.

Awards

  • For Powerstories Theatre, Voices of Women Festival, we won first place in the Sixty Minute Digital Category for the play Diary of a Bastard Child and we won the Critical Social Issue Award.
